Winkel Music Studio is an in home Chicago-based cello studio offering personalized instruction for students of all ages and levels. With a warm, encouraging, and student-centered approach, lessons are tailored to each student’s individual goals—from beginners discovering the cello for the first time to more advanced students preparing for auditions, performances, or continued musical study.

Maya Winkel holds a Bachelor of Arts in Music and Nordic Studies from Luther College, where she graduated cum laude. Maya has a strong background in solo, chamber, and orchestral performance, as well as music education.
Maya has studied cello privately with Dr. Kacy Clopton and Dr. Amy Phelps. Her teaching is influenced by the Suzuki method, incorporating its emphasis on developing a strong foundation, learning through listening, building confidence, and nurturing a lifelong love of music.

At Winkel Music Studio, students are encouraged to develop their own unique musical voice while building the skills, discipline, and enjoyment that make learning the cello a lifelong experience.

In the future we hope to find a more permanent studio space, but until then lessons will be conducted in my home.
